Aeja, a once promising student, excelled academically and had a knack for writing poems about rainy days. Her dream was to become a novelist, so she moved to Seoul to pursue her aspirations. Now 29 years old, Aeja has not achieved the success she had hoped for. Her only accomplishment is winning an award from a local press organization. Unfortunately, her personal life is no better, as her deceitful boyfriend left her with a large debt. Aeja is on the verge of despair, but she decides to channel her energy into a writing competition with a big prize. While working on her entry, Aeja receives a message from her mother, asking her to return to Busan for her brother's wedding. Aeja's mother has always been tough on her, and upon her return to Busan, her mother continues to treat her the same. Then, one day, her mother suddenly collapses, and Aeja's world starts to crumble.
